Glenn Porras (30-6-0, 18 KOs) of M'lang, Cotabato clashes with Waldo Sabu (12-10-0, 2 KOs) of Jakarta, Indonesia for the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council super bantamweight championship on Saturday, November 25, 2017. The showdown will be held at the University of Mindanao Gymnasium, Tagum City, Davao del Norte. The 32-year-old Filipino southpaw has fought 187 rounds in 36 bouts as against the 28-year-old Indonesian southpaw who had 162 rounds in 22 bouts.

Porras recently won over Dingdong Quinones by 1st-round TKO for the vacant Philippines Mindanao Professional Boxing Federation (MinProBA) super bantamweight title. Prior to that, he was defeated by Ben Mananquil by unanimous decision for the vacant World Boxing Federation international bantamweight crown. Sabu lost to Thiranan Matsali of Thailand by unanimous decision for the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council silver bantamweight belt.

“Glenn Porras is the kind of fearless warrior this company was built on,” promoter Gary Shaw once described him when he was under his promotions. "Porras creates the kind of electricity in his fights that fan favorites are always known for." Glenn "The Rock" Porras once held the WBO Asia Pacific Youth and Philippines Boxing Federation (PBF) bantamweight titles. He is with the Braveheart Boxing Club of Sec. Manny Pinol.

In the undercard, Rosekie Cristobal (14-2-0, 10 KOs) of President Roxas, North Cotabato will encounter Romeo Jakosalem (18-15-1, 10 KOs) of Hagonoy, Davao del Sur for the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) super lightweight title. Michael Bravo (12-1-0, 5 KOs) of Kidapawan City, Cotabato will face Lyster Jun Pronco (9-15-1, 6 KOs) of Malaybalay City, Bukidnon for the vacant Philippines Boxing Federation (PBF) light flyweight strap.

Jovany Rota (9-12-0, 6 KOs) of Butuan City, Agusan del Norte will battle Alvin Makiling (10-14-4, 3 KOs) of Tupi, Cotabato del Sur for the vacant Philippine Mindanao Professional Boxing Federation (MinProBA) super lightweight championship. JP Macadumpis (11-10-1, 5 KOs) of General Santos City will fight Holly Quinones (3-8-1, 1 KO) for the vacant Philippine Mindanao Professional Boxing Federation (MinProBA) featherweight title.

Guillermo Rigondeaux (17-0, 11 KOs) of Cuba will engage in the most important fight of his professional career against Vasyl Lomachenko (9-1, 7 KOs) of Ukraine, and his head trainer Pedro Diaz is very positive of the outcome of the showdown on December 9 in the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York. "Rigo" will move up two weights to seek his third world title, the World Boxing Organization super featherweight strap of "Loma."

"Rigo is an incredible boxer," Diaz said in an interview with ESPN Deportes. "He is always motivated and happy, he always trains like a great warrior and the energy he transmits while training is incredible. On December 9 he will have a great fight with Lomachenko." Rigondeaux is greatly motivated to triumph and gain the respect that he has not received since defeating Nonito Donaire in 2013 when many believed that the "Filipino Flash" was the favorite to win.

"He is always ready to fight with anyone, Rigo is a champion who does not choose his opponents and fights with anyone wherever they may be," said Díaz, who has trained the Cuban champion for several years now and intends to assist Rigondeaux return to the top of the best pound per pound boxers. Diaz said the weight will not be a problem, since Rigondeaux has an excellent and serious team. "The greatest virtue of Rigondeaux is that he will go for victory," Diaz commented.

"The Lomachenko versus Rigondeaux title fight is a signature event in the sport of boxing. It matches the two greatest fighters in Olympic boxing facing off against each other. Never before in boxing history have two boxers, each the winner of two Olympic gold medals, faced each other in a professional boxing match," said Top Rank boss Bob Arum. "It will be a big battle for boxing fans and boxing history. This battle will open our maximum potential," Lomachenko said.

As a sport, boxing has been around for thousands of years. It started in some parts of Africa, before migrating over the Mediterranean Sea and spreading throughout Europe. The Ancient Greeks believed that boxing was a game played by the gods so they included boxing in the ancient Olympic Games starting 688 BC. A Mesopotamian stone tablet was discovered in Baghdad, Iraq, showing two men engaging in a fight. It is estimated to be about 7,000 years old.

Michael Jordan surprised the sports world announcing his retirement from basketball then by signing a minor league baseball contract with the Chicago White Sox on February 7, 1994. He reported to spring training in Sarasota, Florida, and was assigned to the team's minor league system on March 31, 1994. Jordan has stated this decision was made to pursue the dream of his late father, who had always envisioned his son to become a Major League Baseball player.

In his 1998 autobiography "For the Love of the Game," Jordan wrote that he had been preparing for retirement as early as the summer of 1992. Jordan's announcement caused a huge shock all over the NBA and appeared on the front pages of newspapers around the world. Chicago Bulls and White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf continued to pay Michael Jordan his reported $4 million basketball salary while he was experimenting with baseball.
