PhilBoxing.com

The 1908 Summer Olympics was held in London, England, from April 27 to October 31, 1908. The 1908 Games were originally scheduled to be held in Rome. On January 28, 1906, it was announced that the 1908 Olympics were transferred due to financial reasons. The Olympics were eventually held in Rome in 1960.

Five boxing events were contested. All of the boxing contests were conducted on October 27. The event was held in the Northampton Institute in Clerkenwell, East London.

The bouts consisted of three rounds each, with the first two rounds having a duration of three minutes and the last one going four minutes. Two judges would score the match, giving 5 points to the boxer who had the better performance in each of the first two rounds and 7 were awarded to the better boxer in the third round.

Points were awarded to the other boxer in proportion to how well he fought compared to the better boxer. If the judges would not agree on the winner at the end of the bout, the referee could either choose the winner or order a fourth round.
