"Archi" face "Azul" Iribe

One of the best Jr. flyweight world champions in history, already with the medical discharge and after an intense preparation, the former double world champion Ulises "Archi" Solis (02/03/34, 21 KOs) will face the experienced international fighter Jesus "Azul" Iribe on Saturday November 3rd at the Multipurpose Center in Hermosillo, in the boxing evening that will mark the debut of two-time Mexican Olympian, Oscar Valdez and that will air on Azteca 7, La Casa del Boxeo.

Solis made the strong stage of his preparation in Tijuana, where he comitted to the workloads and demanding gym sparring sessions of his fitness coach, Raul Robles, where he showed his high performance athlete level.

With the good news of his trainer and having passed all relevant medical tests, Solis wants to reclaim the IBF Jr. Flyweight world championship, that was his but is in recess and that for now, in the interim is held by John Riel Casimero.

Meanwhile double world title challenger, the experienced Jesus "Azul" Iribe (07/05/22, 10 KOs) of Culiacan, Sinaloa, will be the one who puts his level, timing and condition to the test, after being on a break for more than a year without a fight because of the surgery underwent in his jaw. The combat will be to ten rounds at Flyweight.

Iribe already disputed the world title three times, the first against Edgar Sosa, second against Bryan Viloria and finally with Ivan Calderon in tight decisions to 12 rounds.

Back to Hermosillo

Ulises Solis will reappear at a venue that has fond memories and whose fans will recognize the level and trajectory.
In July 2008, "Archie" made the seventh defense of his IBF Jr. flyweight world title in his first stint as champion in the Sonoran capital facing the Phillipino Glenn Donaire, winning from start to finish by doing one of the best fights of his career, in terms of technique and tactics, to "sweep" with scores of 120-108 on two cards and 120-107 on the other.
Now he returns with a mission and that is to restore confidence, convince, overcome and recover the lost place forced by inactivity, which is to be among the elite of the world boxing and be recognized as world champion.
