Santiago weighed in at 48.6 kilograms (107 1/4 pounds), while Taniguchi came in at 48.9 kilograms (108 pounds), clearing the final hurdle ahead of their championship encounter. Also making weight for the featured bouts, Marlon “Nightmare” Tapales weighed 56.05 kilograms (123 3/4 pounds) against Yukinori Oguni, who came in at 56.0 kilograms (123 1/2 pounds), while Tsukuru Midorikawa weighed 69.7 kilograms (153 3/4 pounds) and Hisashi Kato came in at 69.5 kilograms (153 1/4 pounds). Santiago enters the bout with momentum and confidence following his rise as one of boxing’s most determined road champions, having dethroned two Japanese world champions in 2025.
