TEAM PUERTO RICO, THE NEW WAVE, ONCE AGAIN MAKING A SPLASH

"Night of Champions" Results
October 26th, 2012
Dr Roque Nido Stella Coliseum, Guayama, Puerto Rico

In the feature bout of the evening, scheduled for 8 rounds in the lightweight division, Jorge "Machito" Maysonet Jr., (10-0, 9 KOs) demolished Ramesis Gil (8-5-5, 5 KOs) by way of a first round KO.

From the beginning of the fight, Maysonet came out very aggressive, connecting with left and right hooks to the face and body of Gil, who went down on three occasions. The referee seen that Gil was unstable to continue and the fight was halted at the 1:23 mark. Maysonet has recorded multiple first round knockous and many critics are saying he could be the next super-star to come out of Puerto Rico.

"Earlier this year, Ramesis was victorious against very good unbeaten fighters, but he had never faced someone like me as you can see by the results," said Maysonet who is promoted by Warriors Boxing, Universal Promotions and Gary Shaw Productions. "Tonight's knockout victory shows my talent is for real and my goal is to bring excitement to my fans in Puerto Rico. The entire lightweight division better take notice because I'm coming to conquer."

In the co-feature bout at 122 pounds, Edgardo "Eggie" Laboy (5-0, 2 KO's) defeated Jonell "Gato "Nieves (4-1, 3 KOs) by unanimous decision in a very exciting encounter. The judges' scorecards were 40-36 twice and 39-37, all in favor for Laboy. Laboy was the aggressor during the fight and landed the better shots, but Nieves fought back hard, and made the fight interesting. Those who were present witnessed a great fight.

"I went against a strong opponent, stronger than expected, and I didn't think he was going to go the distance with all the shots I was landing." said Laboy who is promoted by Universal Promotions and Gary Shaw Productions. "However, in this sport to dominated, you have to use your technique, and thanks to God, we did exactly that."

In other results, Steven Mart?nez (13-1, 10 KOs) beat Edgar P?rez (5-1, 3 KOs) by unanimous decision. All three judges' scorecards read 59-55. Also, Edwin "Puto" Rodr?guez (2-0, 2 KOs) defeated Alberto V?lez (0-5) by way of knockdown in the first round, as did Kenneth Rivera (3-1, 2 KOs) against Pedro Agosto (0-6) and Miguel "el Gallo" Marrero (7-0, 4 KOs) vs. Leroy Padilla (1-8, 1 KOs) and Emmanel" Pirata" De Jes?s (2-0, 2 KOs) vs. Eduarod Adorno (2-17, 1 KO).
