Nonito Donaire Jr. anxious to fight again this year By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Wed, 17 Oct 2012  Just four days after his impressive knockout victory of Japanese fighter Toshiaki Nishioka in California, Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire Jr. is already looking to get back and fight in the ring once again, preferrably before the year ends. His promoter Bob Arum is looking at a December 15th fight between Donaire Jr. and popular Mexican fighter, Jorge Arce. "If the left hand is okay, then I will try to have him fight again before the end of the year, in Mexico, at that new arena in Mexico City - against Arce," Arum told Rick Reeno of Boxing Scene.com. Donaire Jr. suffered an injury in his left hand against Nishioka last Saturday, the same hand he injured in a July fight against IBF champion Jeffrey Mathebula. Donaire expressed willingness to accommodate his promoter?s request. In a radio interview with The Boxing Lab Radio, he said that he wanted to fight anybody that his promoter has lined up for him. ?We want to fight. As this point, I don?t have a role yet to who I want to fight. But if they want me to fight, I?m gonna fight whoever they put in front of me,? Donaire Jr. said. Donaire Jr. will be paying his physician a visit today and will be making his decision after that. ?I am going to my doctor to see what is going on and see if I can fight in December. And If I can, I will fight late this year,? added the Filipino world champion. ?I enjoy fighting. I want to fight. It?s getting better each time I go in there and if there is a possibility, let?s go for it,? Donaire said. Donaire, before the fight with Nishioka, told this Philboxing.com writer that another fight this year might be a possibility depending on the result of his fight with Nishioka. ?I want to but I do not want to think ahead too fast. If this is a hard fight, I might not be able to. I need to rest. But I want to, if my body permits, if it is safe for me. If I am able to, why not. The old school guys did it,? Donaire replied when I asked him if he has one more fight left this year. That decision may depend on his doctor?s orders today.
