By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Sun, 30 Sep 2012

Denver ?The Excitement? Cuello-Singwangcha of the Philippines beat Ivan Meneses of Mexico by unanimous decision in a fight held at the Auditorio del Bicentenario in Morelia,Michioacan de Ocampo , Mexico.
Promoter Aljoe Jaro e-mailed philboxing that Denver dropped Meneses in the opening round and sent him on the back foot. But Cuello suffered a sprained shoulder in round three and had trouble throwing his punches.
Cuello also suffered cuts due to head clashes and a point was deducted from him in the 5th. Denver was fighting using his left hand because of the sprained shoulder but he used his boxing skills to ensure his victory. Cuello moves up to 32-4-6, 21 KO?s. Meneses drops to 18-11-1,10 KO?s.
Cuello, who hails from Iloilo, now has a 4W-1L record on Mexican soil. Two years ago he suffered an unfortunate third round disqualification loss to Juan Hernandez after he had Hernandez down in the same round. He returned to Mexico last year and bounced back with stoppage wins against Sebastian Arcos (KO 3) and Carlos Perez (TKO 1). Last May, Cuello stopped Ganigan Lopez in two rounds in a WBC eliminator to officially acquire the top contender status.
Jaro said that they will return to the Philippines on Wednesday. They plan to go to China this October 27 for the WBC 105 lb division title fight between Xiong Zhao Zhong and Javier Martinez of Mexico. Cuello looks forward to fighting the winner.
