ROAD WARRIOR FUENTES STAYS HOME TO DEFEND OPBF CROWN PhilBoxing.com Tue, 11 Sep 2012  OPBF Flyweight Champion Rocky ?Road Warrior? Fuentes of the Philippines will be staying on home soil to defend his OPBF. Fuentes will be facing mandatory challenger from Japan Myung-Ho Lee in the undercard of Pinoy Pride XVI Venezuelan Invasion scheduled September 22, 2012 at the newly refurbished Waterfront Cebu Hotel and Casino in the Philippines boxing capital Cebu, Philippines. Fuentes, W 23 (KO 20) L 6 D 2 who will be defending his OPBF Championship for the 5th straight time against the Japanese Lee cannot take his challenger for granted as Lee is riding on a similar streak as Fuentes is in with 13 straight victories under their belts. Lee is known to be a smart fighter that darts in and out, a style that Fuentes has some trouble dealing with. Fuentes though has matured and is more focused with his career now as he can at anytime challenge for a world title as he is ranked in the top 10 of all major alphabet bodies of boxing. ?The Road Warrior? Fuentes is ranked WBA # 2, WBC #3, WBO #4 and IBF # 9 defended his OPBF title 3 times in Japan against Japans rated flyweights in Shigetaka Ikehara in Tokyo, Yasuto Aritomi in Nagoya and Hirofumi Mukai in Osaka with only Mukai lasting the distance. The OPBF champ started his career with 8 impressive and successive wins before losing focus because of an unfortunate ring incident where in one of his opponents lost his life.
