MELINDO TO FACE HIGHER RANKED AND FORMER WBA WORLD CHAMPION

Former Interim WBA Flyweight Champion and current WBA # 4 Flyweight Jean Piero Perez of Venezuela will be fighting WBA # 7 and WBO World #1 Flyweight Milan ?El Metodico? Melindo who will be defending his newly minted WBO International Flyweight Title.

Jean Piero Perez W 19 (KO 14) L 4 D 1, a 31-year old veteran fighter who is Venezuela?s number 1 flyweight will be facing Milan Melindo on September 22, 2012 in Cebu City, Philippines.

Perez just came off an 8 round KO win over compatriot and Venezuelan veteran fighter Michael Arango and looks to make it 2 in a row against the Filipino Melindo.

The Venezuelan invader?s resume also boasts of a win over WBA Light Flyweight Champion Carlos Murillo of Panama and has stood toe to toe with AJ Banal tormentor Rafael Concepcion, twice.

The ex champ Perez has KO?d 14 of the 24 opponent and has stopped 12 of them in their tracks on or before the 4th round.

The Melindo-Perez fight will headline the 16th edition of the Philippines rising and highly rated boxing television series Pinoy Pride of ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports that will be shot and staged at the Waterfront Cebu Hotel and Casino.

In the supporting main feature will be the OPBF Flyweight Championship defense of the Philippines Rocky ?The Road Warrior? Fuentes against Mandatory challenger from Japan Myung-Ho Lee.

Pinoy Pride has lorded the National Sunday Daytime Ratings finishing atop of the ratings at number one for the 5th consecutive time beating regular Sunday variety showbiz programs. Pinoy Pride XV Philippines vs Mexico headlined by the Pagara-Montoya lorded over daytime shows with a 16.2% rating last August 19?s airing at ABS-CBN Channel 2 beating regular frontrunners Kapuso Movie Festival and ASAP 2012.

Pinoy Pride XVI will be held at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino?s Pacific Grand Ballroom on the 22nd of September 2012.
