Duno, Tinampay ready to rumble, make weight for ?Brawl at the Mall: The Homecoming?

PhilBoxing.com

A lesser known opponent awaits Romero Duno for his first fight since vanquishing a highly touted foe two months ago in the United States (US). Though highly favored, Duno isn't taking any chances as he vowed to go all out when he battles Jason Tinampay tomorrow (Saturday, June 10) in the main event of the ?Brawl at the Mall: The Homecoming? at the Robinsons Mall Atrium in General Santos City.

?Every fight is important and I want to prove to everybody, including the Golden Boy Promotions, that my victory in Los Angeles was for real. I will do my best to give the fans a good and exciting fight,? said Duno.

Duno continued to punish himself in the gym even after scoring a sensational second-round knockout victory over the erstwhile unbeaten Christian Gonzalez last March 10 at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

?I train one month for this fight and I'm in great shape. As I said, I don't take any fight lightly,? added Duno, whose win over Gonzalez the WBC Youth Intercontinental lightweight title.

Duno's showdown with Tinampay will be his last campaign in Philippine soil as he will start campaign in the US after being signed by the Golden Boy Promotions.

In the official weigh-in held Friday morning, Duno (13W-1L-0D, 12KOs) and Tinampay (8W-4L-1D) easily made the 135-pound weight limit for the encounter scheduled for 10 rounds.

Duno tipped the scales at 131 pounds, while Tinampay, a native of Bohol Province, weighed 133 pounds.

The card will also pit Aston Palicte (22W-2L-0D,18KOs) versus John Mark Apolinario (18W-8L-3D,4KOs) in the main supporting event. Also spicing up the card is the battle between Jovany Rota (9W-10L, 6KOs) versus Rimar Metuda (10W-7L-O, 5KOs).

The rest of the card will feature Markquil Salvana (12W-3L-0D, 6KOs) against Alvin Bais (15W-8L-1D, 4KOs); and Muhamad Farkhan (3W-0L-0D, 3KOs) versus Marlon Alta (12W-7L-0D, 9KOs).

Spicing up the boxing extravaganza are four-rounder battles featuring Dave Apolinario vs. Prince Canonero; Mark Antonio vs. Rusty Padua; Jagear Bereno vs. Rudy Salaton; Ar-jay Recopelacion vs. Rio Golipatan; Yoben Lementillo vs. Mark Erick Menor; and Jayson Francisco vs. Elizer Ambon.
