 Vic Saludar.
THE power-punching Saludar brothers of Polomolok displayed their ring prowess at their own hometown by stopping their separate rivals Sept. 9 at the Polomolok gym in South Cotabato.
Vic ?Vicious? Saludar, 24 knocked down Indonesian Rizky Pratama with his left-right combination to score a first round technical knockout in 1:02 and captured the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asian Pacific minimum weight title.
Referee Dandrex Tapdasan stopped the fight after Pratama complained that he injured his left shoulder after he stood up from a knockdown.
It was Vic?s 11th victory and 9th KO against only 1 loss and no draw while Pratama only suffered his 3rd defeat against 6 wins and no draw.
WBO Asia Pacific president Leon Panuncillo supervised the fight promoted by Kenneth Rotal.
Vic?s older brother Froilan ?The Sniper? Saludar, 26, reigning WBO Inter-Continental flyweight champion, scored a 5th round technical knockout win against Michael Escobia in the main supporting bout.
Escobia suffered a severe cut due to Froilan?s hard punches and was forced to quit after complaining to the referee and ring physician that he could no longer clearly see.
Froilan, also a former WBO Youth and Asia Pacific flyweight titles-holder, now has 23 wins with 15 KOs against only one loss and one draw. Escobia dropped his record to 10-10-1.
In the undercard, Rence Magarce TKO?d Rowiel Garcia in the second round; Mark Bariwaan won by a majority decision over Holly Quinones; Resty Apas stopped Ronnie Briscato by TKO in 2:42 of 3rd round; Ken Jordan knocked out Junrex Saldivia in 2:59 of 2nd round; Joash Jordan beat Jobert Corpus by unanimous decision. ?
