BANAL SHOCKED BY AMERICA'S COLD WEATHER!
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Wed, 28 Mar 2007
Undefeated Alex John 'Bazooka' Banal of the ALA Boxing Gym today had his first workout in Los Angeles, as he did a 40-minute run in the morning with another undefeated ALA boy Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista.
"He said he felt like drowning due to the cold weather," reported ALA Gym chief trainer Edito Villamor in a long-distance conversation with this writer, referring to Banal, a first-timer in the US.
The group has not yet reported to the Wild Card Gym, and will do so tomorrow for their first training at the gym since arriving last Monday.
After their morning workout, the group went to get their service vehicle in the West Covina residence of manager Antonio L. Aldeguer, then drove to the clinic of renowned orthodontist Ed De la Vega for Banal to be fitted his new mouthguard.

Banal, according to Villamor, felt like he already belonged to the big league upon getting his new red-and-blue mouthguard, proudly stating that his was made by the same dentist who did Manny Pacquiao's custom-made mouthguard.
"I also saw BoomBoom. I did his prophylaxis and filled four cavities," reported Dr. Ed De la Vega. "The kids are so nice to have in the office. They are so down to earth and humble. Their demeanor is indeed a tribute to the discipline at the ALA Gym. Mr Aldeguer and 'Don King' Gello-ani really did a good job in rearing their kids," De la Vega added.
De la Vega said he will be at the Wild Card Gym tomorrow to take photos of Banal's first day at the Wild Card Gym, as well as Bautista in training.
