In a remarkable display of skill and determination, the program manager of the Ateneo de Manila University Chess Team, delivered outstanding performance on the local stage. IM Garcia showcased exceptional prowess on the 64 squares, finishing with an impressive 10.0 points on account of 8 wins, 4 draws and 2 losses in this double round robin format, applying 10 minutes (rapid) play to finish time control format. This achievement not only boots his standing in the rankings but also sets the stage for further success in the upcoming Asian tournaments. He is set to represent the country in the Asean E-Sports Chess championship to be held on June 12-14, 2026 in Thailand. Renowned for his deep theoretical knowledge in both the opening and endgame phases, IM Garcia's playing style is anchored on strong positional understanding, patient pressure, and precise evaluation. He can seamlessly shift gears, unleashing dynamic and tactical play when the position demands it. He is particularly adept at identifying and ruthlessly exploiting even the slightest inaccuracies in his opponents' play, often converting microscopic advantages into decisive victories with surgical position. IM Garcia is known to be a master in English Opening. Among his crucial wins against GM Darwin Laylo (Round 1), IM Mark Jay Bacojo (Round 2), IM Christian Gian Karlo Arca (Round 3), IM Paulo Bersamina (Round 4), GM Laylo (Round 8), IM Michael Concio Jr. (Round 12), GM Daniel Quizon (Round 13) and FM Alekhine Nouri (Round 14). He split the points with IM Concio (Round 5), GM Quizon (Round 6), IM Arca (Round 10), and IM Bersamina (Round 11). His losses were at the hands of FM Nouri (Round 7) and IM Bacojo (Round 9).
