?Let?s forget about the Mayweather fight for the meantime?- Pacquiao

PhilBoxing.com

Manny Pacquiao, perhaps tired of the way his proposed multi-millon dollar mega-fight with unbeaten Floyd Mayweather has been going, expressed resignation that such showdown the world boxing community has long been waiting, might not be realized.

?Ayaw talaga eh, wala na tayo sigurong magagawa (He really looks like he does not want to fight me, so, I think there?s nothing we can do about it already),? an exasperated Pacquiao told interviewers in last Thursday?s SCOOP Sa Kamayan On Air heard over DAZR.

Kalimutan na muna natin yan (Let?s forget about it for the meantime). For the last four years, negotiations for the fight have been on and off and nothing had come out,? he lamented. ?He?s been asking for so many conditions which we have expressed intentions to abide by like drug testing, purse split and everything.?

?Now he wants me to separate myself from my promoter (Bob Arum) which I cannot possibly do without violating my contract. Habang tumatagal nagiging lalong imposible ang hinihingi nya. Kaya ng ako kalimutan ko muna at mag-concentrate sa nalalapit na laban ko, which, in fact, has not yet been finalized.?

The 35-year-old Congressman from Sarangani Province took exceptions to Mayweather?s latest insulting remarks during the program, viewed live also via streaming at www.sonshinetvradyo.,com, likening him to a mad dog chasing for a bone by continuously pursuing the fight even if he has repeatedly saying he won?t under the present circumstances.

?First, I would like to make it clear that I am not chasing him. If ever, I want to face him in the ring for boxing fans, in particular, and sports fans, in general,? Pacquiao reasoned out. ?That fight is what everybody wants. That?s history in the making and I want both of us to be part of history.?

?History which cannot happen without either of us,? the Comeback fighter of 2013 continued. ?Never mind legacy. Meron na kami parehong maiiwang pamana sa boksing at sports sakaling mag-retiro kami. History is different, To make an expected record of most number of people to watch the actual fight and on television, heard over radio and read in the newspapers is what will remain in the history of boxing.?

Pacquiao said he prefers to be referred to as a mad dog chasing for a bone since he is pursuing something that would make him serve the people and make them happy in the one thing he knows - boxing.

?Rather than a dog running with its tail wrapped between his legs in utter show of fear,? Pacquiao philosophized. ?At least ako, naghahanapo ng mas marami pang laban, hindi ako tumatakbo sa laban,? the Pacman declared. (I look for more fights, I don?t run away from them.)

?Truth is, for me, happy na ako matuloy man o hind ang laban. Masaya ako dahiI I am able to serve people in so many ways despite my humble beginnings with the help of God? in boxing, entertainment and, most importantly, in government service, ? he said.

?It cannot be denied naman na kaya ko nagagawa na mag-branch-out to other callings is through boxing and the Grace of the Lord,? he said.
