NBA - Lost magic, Orlando drops six straight By Reynaldo Seno PhilBoxing.com Wed, 30 Jan 2013 ![]() NEW YORK -- Snapping a two-game losing streak, the Brooklyn Nets made shot work of the Orlando Magic and scored a 97-77 rout Monday night at the Barclays Center here in Brooklyn, New York. After a disappointing loss to the Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets, the Nets quickly went back on the winning path by building a 30-20 first quarter lead. They escalated their attack further in the second quarter, and when center Brook Lopez flushed home a dunk with 2:33 left before the halftime break, the rout was on as the Nets took a comfortable 52-34 cushion. Behind center Nikola Vucevic's 18 points and nine rebounds, the Magic showed some aggression in the third quarter and inched to within, 70-63. But the Nets closed out the show with a 27-14 fourth quarter run. It was the Magic's sixth loss in a row and the rigors of a tough NBA schedule wasn't lost on rookie Maurice Harkless, who told NBA.com "Probably the speed of the game, adjusting to all the traveling, playing every day, pretty much is tough. I mean, we've played more games already than I played my whole career." Point guard Deron Williams paced the Nets with 20 points and nine rebounds while the 7-foot Lopez managed 16 and five rebounds. Joe Johnson and Keith Bogans combined for 25 points for Brooklyn. The Nets, who scored their 8th straight win at Barclays, improved to 27-18. The Nets are fourth overall in the Eastern Conference and 1 1/2 games behind the New York Knicks in the Atlantic Division race. Jameer Nelson had another sub par performance for Orlando, just nine points and seven assists while J.J. Riddick went cold with five points although he came up with 10 helpers. The Magic dropped deeper down the cellar at 14-30.
