Sonny Boy Jaro is off the February 2nd card in Puerto Rico

PhilBoxing.com

Sonny Boy Jaro.
Contrary to some reports, former WBC Flyweight champion Sonny Boy Jaro will not be fighting on February 2nd in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, this according to the boxer?s manager, Aljoe Jaro.

?Hindi ko muna tinangap dahil 112 lbs. ang weight at masyado nang malapit.? (I did not accept the fight, because it will be fought at 112 lbs.) The boxing manager told Philboxing.com

?Kung 115 lbs., sana pwede pa.? (If it is at 115 lbs., maybe it is possible.) Jaro added.

Jaro opined that his boxer, who last fought in July of last year, will be having difficulty making the desired weight if they accepted the fight.

?Inayawan ko muna. dahil malaki pa timbang ni Sonny Boy ngayon.? (I declined it for now, because Sonny Boy is still heavy at this time.) stated Jaro.

The elder Jaro told Philboxing.com that the former world champion?s current weight is at 128 lbs. and it will be hard for his boxer to cut down that weight with only three weeks to go before the said fight.

Recent reports and press releases indicate that Sonny Boy Jaro will fight in the card to be held at the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in Bayamon, Puerto Rico alongside another Filipino fighter, lightweight boxer, Al Sabaupan. Both were supposed to be part of Puerto Rican superstar, Juan Manuel Lopez?s comeback fight in three weeks.

Sonny Boy Jaro (34-11-5, 24 KOs) is reported to be fighting WBO number 6th ranked flyweight and WBO Latino Flyweight titlist, McWilliams Arroyo 13-1 (11 KOs)of Ceiba, Puerto Rico.

Aljoe Jaro said that it was Sonny Boy himself who requested that they decline the proposed fight with Arroyo because of the proximity of the bout.

?Siya mismo nagsabi na pass muna tayo, kasi malapit na masyado. Pero kung 115 ang weight puwede.? (He was the one who told me take a pass on it, because it is too close. If it is at 115, maybe it is possible.)

Jaro plans to have his boxer fight on the last week of February or by early March and is also thinking of having him move up to Super Flyweight or the 115 pound class.

?Pero kung may maunang break sa 112lbs., pwede pa rin. Pero mahaba ang pag-hahanda.? (But if a break comes up at 112 lbs., it is still possible. But we prefer a longer preparation for it.) commented Jaro.
