Former Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) Bantamweight champion, Rey ?StingRay? Las Pi?as of General Santos City was stopped by Japanese Tomoki ?El Mexicanito? Kameda of the notorious Kameda brothers of Japan in a non-title Super Bantamweight bout yesterday at the Bodymaker Colosseum (a.ka. Osaka Prefectural Gym) in Osaka, Japan.
Typical of a Filipino warrior, the Santa Josefa, Agusan del Sur-native showed the courage and the determination to win but the Japanese was just too skillful and strong that he was virtually outboxed in every round before the stoppage. The end came at 1:23 of the fourth round when he succumbed to the assault of the current WBC Silver Bantamweight champion.
With the stinging loss, his record falls to 17-7-4, 11 Kos while the victorious Japanese ups his to 26-0-0, 17 Kos and might be in line to challenge the current WBC Bantamweight champion and his countryman, Shinsuke Yamanaka.
Other results:
Regular WBA Bantamweight champion, Koki Kameda escaped with a split decision verdict in his unification match with Interim titeholder, Hugo ?Cuatito? of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico for the main event. His record now stands at 29-1-0, 17 Kos while the Mexican?s drops to 31-2-0, 28 KOs.
Former 2-defense WBA Flyweight champion, Daiki Kameda (now 26-3-0, 16 KOs) wins a lopsided 10-round unanimous decision over Indonesian James Mokoginta (now 24-9-2, 12 KOs).
This event was promoted by the Kameda Promotions.
