Passions will run high as Argentina clashes with Mexico

PhilBoxing.com

Lausanne, Switzerland, 22 November 2012 - This much anticipated showdown between continental rivals Argentina Condors and Mexico Guerreros promises to be an action-packed affair. All eyes will be on the hosts, who will be making their home debut in the competition. After suffering a heavy defeat last week, the Condors will be eager to get their first points on the board and please the local supporters at Club Villa Lujan with a win. All five home boxers have never tasted World Series of Boxing (WSB) action before so this will be a real test of character. Great expectations have been placed in this squad and on the promising talent of Yamil Peralta, who will be leading out the troops this Friday 23 November (22:00 local time).

In this fascinating encounter, the Middleweight (68-73kg) bout will be first up with the Dominican Republic's tall 21-year-old Henrri David Polanco Ferreras, representing Argentina Condors, battling the Venezuelan Juan Carlos Rodriquez Patino. The home fighter will look to make his height and reach advantage count in this one.

Straighth after, the Lightweights (57-61kg) will be entering the ring as the Condors' German Argentino Benitez squares up to 19-year-old orthodox Mexican Ramon Isaias Hildago Estrada. The latter having already competed in WSB for the Guerreros last season will not be fazed by the occasion.

It will then be Argentina Condors' Christian Eduardo Roda versus Mexican southpaw Aaron Alameda Lopez in the Bantamweight (50-54kg) contest. Two quick and agile boxers going head-to-head in what promises to be a fast and furious affair.

Heayvweight (91+kg) action follows as the unrelenting pace of the match continues with the experienced Leonardo Anibal Taborda, recruited by the Condors from the professional ranks, locking horns with Puerto Rican sensation Gerardo Miguel Bisbal Melero.

Star attraction, 21-year-old London 2012 Olympic Games quarter-finalist Yamil Peralta will box in the last bout of the night, when he is pitted against Mexico Guerreros' Francisco Ortega, a veteran of two seasons in WSB. This will be the contest of the night between the up and coming and technically gifted Peralta and the savvy counter-puncher Ortega.

Peralta was looking forward to his debut, stating, "I feel in great shape coming into this fight, the extra weights compared to the Olympics suits me perfects, I feel leaner and faster". On fighting in a pro format, he said, "This will be my first time, personally I think it will be fantastic to box without headguards, it is more real, you feel the punches better and you constantly have to be on your guard. I cannot wait".

Ortega was relaxed about meeting his opponent, declaring, "I feel any boxer in the WSB is a challenge, so it can be Peralta or anyone else, it is always though. Mexico and Argentina are countries with a great boxing heritage and culture. Our styles will create a spectacle in the ring so it will be quality for the fans. I am now in my third WSB season so I am very confident."

On the Guerreros' propsects this year, he said, "We are extremely motivated, boxing is huge right now in Mexico and around the world and we must grasp this opportunity. We have new boxers in the team that give us the balance between youth and experience. We had Emigdio and Romero in the Individual Finals so the competition holds no surprises for us anymore, we are ready."

With bragging rights and precious WSB points at stake, it will be an all-action display by both teams. A fervent and demanding crowd will also ensure an electric atmosphere for this one.
