Nietes Ready for Thai Meendaeng in ALA Stars Provincial Tour Dumaguete City

PhilBoxing.com

Two division World Champion and reigning WBO Light Flyweight King Donnie "Ahas" Nietes of the Philippines is set to make his ring return against Thai Danai Meendaeng on November 17, 2012 at the Macias Sports Complex in the coastal city of Dumaguete in Negros Occidental, Philippines.

ALA Promotions, in their efforts of bringing boxing's more popular fighters closer to the Filipino's around the country and abroad will be bringing the longest reigning active world champ from the Philippines Nietes closer to the Pinoys in Negros Oriental south of the country.

Nietes will showcase his slick and steady boxing styles against Meendaeng of Thailand in a 10 round non-title bout in preparation for his 2nd title defense of his WBO light Flyweight crown against a still to be named opponent early next year.

Nietes has been preparing non-stop as he believes he cannot slack-off at this level and point of his career. "I have been training non-stop and have been very disciplined with all aspects of my training as a pro boxer. As a fighter, I believe I always have to be prepared and focused as the fighters I will be facing at this championship level are the top fighters in the world. These guys want what I have. They want my title and I cannot take these fighters for granted." said Nietes.

According to ALA Promotions President and CEO Michael Aldeguer, "We have already finalized next year's plans and we are excited for yet another great year for Philippine boxing. We already have a February 2 Pinoy Pride XVIII date for next year for his title defense."

The Nietes-Meendaeng main event in Dumaguete City on November 17 will also feature Jimrex "The Executioner" Jaca who beat Angel "Arcanghel" Martinez of Mexico last August 18, 2012 in the Philippines via second KO of the last round of their fight. Jaca will be fighting Jaypee Ignacio from Manila, Philippines in a 10 round fist-fest. Jaca is known for his exciting boxing flair highlighted by his battle with Mexican legend and future hall of fame member Juan Manuel Marquez.

A total of six world-class boxing fights will be featured during the ALA Stars Provincial tour which is supported by the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental, Honey Comb Tourist Inn, U Pension, Fungisol, Pandelicious, Robinson's Place Dumaguete and Cong. Henry Teves.

The ALA Stars Provincial Tour Official Weigh-In will be held at the Robinson's Place in Dumaguete City 12 noon on November 16, 2012 and the Official Press Conference for the said event will immediately follow 2 PM at the Honey Comb Tourist Inn on the same day.
