Guevara More Than Ready to Topple Casimero this Saturday Night in Mazatlan

PhilBoxing.com

This Saturday night, Erik Morales? Box Latino, Promociones del Pueblo, HG Boxing, Corona and Televisa join forces to present a world title fight between IBF junior flyweight champion John Riel Casimero of the Philippines and hometown hero Pedro ?Pedrin? Guevara from the Convention Center in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico. The twelve round main event billed as ?Furia en Mazatlan? will be televised live in Mexico on Televisa?s weekly boxing series ?Sabados de Corona?.

The 21 year old Guevara is undefeated in nineteen fights with 18 wins, one draw and thirteen of those wins inside the distance. The current NABF champ knows he has an uphill battle against the tough Casimero (16-2, 10KOs) who won his title last year by stopping Argentinean Luis Lazarte and then surviving a riot in Buenos Aires where Casimero had to escape under the ring to get out with his life.

Casimero might not have to go into a hostile territory in his first defense this Saturday but he will have a tough time against Guevara who after a successful amateur career has amassed an impressive professional career with the WBC Silver light flyweight title and the afore mentioned NABF strap in his trophy case.

Casimero landed in Guevara?s hometown of Mazatlan earlier this week, ?my last fight was a nightmare besides winning the title. We were at the mercy of three hundred delinquents without any police help but I know that events will be different in Mazatlan.?

Casimero mentioned to Filipino reporters before his departure from his native Cebu that he was glad to fight once again in Mexico.

?Mexico is a country where they know boxing and applaud the winner even if he is not Mexican,? Casimero said. ?They are experts and they cheer for the best fighter even if he is not Mexican. I am happy to be back in Mexico, they are very hospitable and I like the weather.?

Also featured on the fight card will be current WBF female flyweight champion Irma ?Guerita? Sanchez (23-5-1, 7KOs) as she defends her title against North American Sharon Gaines (11-13-1, 3KOs) over ten rounds as well as a WBF super bantamweight championship tilt between former Mexican Olympian Arturo ?Rey? Santos (11-2, 4KOs) versus the experienced Khabir ?Crazy Russian? Suleymanov (13-2, 6KOs).
