50/50 IN PACQUIAO-MAYWEATHER: LET REASON PREVAIL
By Reni M. Valenzuela PhilBoxing.com Wed, 25 Jan 2012

Except for his bloated ego, I can?t think of any other reason to warrant Floyd Mayweather Jr.?s demand of a bigger paycheck in fighting Manny Pacquiao. Floyd is an extremely enigmatic person who doesn?t seem to run out of tricks and excuses. And his money posturing this time to make The Fight happen or not happen holds everyone hostage again to his antics.
This is the height of irony in all of sports:
Pacman has accomplished extraordinary feats in boxing like no other athletes in fight sports for this generation in terms of surprising conquest of brightest stars in their prime, unbelievable demolition of accomplished bigger opponents, popularity, worldwide respect and admiration, phenomenal rise to stardom, inspiring rags to riches story, several multi-million product endorsements, role model stature, international awards, numerous world citations, and many others. Pacquiao has defeated more convincingly the same boxers that Mayweather fought with the exception of Juan Manuel Marquez, notwithstanding the silly alibis by Floyd ?defenders.? Foremost of all is Pacquiao being the only fighter in boxing history who captured eight championship belts in different divisions.
Given the above for a proof, and beyond, how awkward it is that Pacman is the one begging Money Floyd to accept the 50/50 split share in the purse when it should be the other way around. Such a novel twist!
Mayweather is hugely talented as a boxer but he has been effectively taking the world for a ride as a clown for too long, and too much. And that could be his greatest undoing. He should beware, however, that in the event he rejects the ?give away? offer of Pacquiao, he may have the same tired ?duped world? to go against him by way of boycott, entertainingly.
