GLENN PORRAS WINS U.S. DEBUT AT CHUMASH
By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Sat, 03 Dec 2011

Sta. Ynez, CA:- Glenn Porras (27-3-0, 17 KO) of M?lang, North Cotobato tonight won his fight with Adolfo Landeras (21-22-2 10KO) of Mexico at the Chumash Casino Resort at this bucolic city.
Porras who fights for the Braveheart Boxing Team of Gov. Manny Pi?ol was making his debut as a fighter in the US.
Porras was trained by Nonito Donaire Sr at the Kennel Boxing Gym in San Leandro, CA owned by Alvin Jugarap.
Porras from the get go wanted to impress the crowd at Chumash, a feat that was not so easy because he was fighting the last fight of the night. Only a few die hard fans stayed after the two televised co-main events were done thus, only about a fourth of the crowd remained.
But unaware of that, Porras went after his opponent from the very first bell landing several body shots that visibly weakened Landeras. In fact, in round two he almost knocked down Landeras. Had he not got held up by the ropes, he could have gone down.
The referee Jack Reiss however did not consider it a KD and allowed the fight to continue.

After round 4, the ringside doctor went up the ring to check on Landeras who seemed to have absorbed too many punches from Porras. When asked if he can continue, the gallant Mexican said yes and the fight was allowed to continue.
To his credit, Landeras was able to withstand the storm that was brought about to him by Porras. He even appeared to have gotten his second win as he fought back furiously all through the fight.
But he hardly won a round.
In the end, Porras was declared the winner via a unanimous decision. The scores were
80-72. 80-72 and 79-73.
With the win Porras opened the door for him to fight some more in the US. Donaire told this writer that he will possibly get another fight in February 2012.
