JAPANESE CHAMPION AOH IN CONTROVERSIAL WIN; WBC FACES PROTEST
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Mon, 07 Nov 2011

Japanese southpaw and WBC superfeather champ Takahiro Aoh (22-2-1, 10 KOs) scored a hugely controversial split decision over previously undefeated Italian Devis Boschiero (29-1-1, 14 KOs) that drew an immediate demand for a rematch by the Italian?s handlers.
The fight which was part of a big championship card in Tokyo said American judge Duane Ford and Thailand?s Anek Hongtongkam scoring the bout for Aoh 115-113 while Britain?s John Lewis had Boschiero the winner 116-113.
Aoh, a one time sparring partner of Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera as he prepared for his fight with pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao looked slow and sluggish according to Hall of Famer media man and matchmaker Joe Koizumi who credited Aoh for his aggressiveness.
In a post fight interview Boschiero?s manager said his fighter ? is the champion without belt.? Cherchi added ?Everybody can see the fight and judge for themselves. Boschiero won at least by 3 points.?
The promoter of Boschiero, OPI 2000 said they will ?file a protest to the WBC for an immediate rematch. Japanese people are proud people and I think Takahiro Aoh and the promoter Mr. Honda will give Boschiero a deserved rematch.?
The fight supervisor was WBC executive director Mauricio Sulaiman.
