WHEN TEAM MEMBERS GET CARRIED AWAY THINGS CAN BE FUNNY

Staples Center, Los Angeles: Many picture perfect occasions happened last night at the Zbik-Chavez Jr title fight.

There were the fabulous shots depicting the brute strength of the fighters as they traded leather inside the ring caught both from the ring side positions of some of the world?s best boxing photographers like Farina of Top Rank and Hogan of GBP and from the lowly auxiliary photographers position some 100 feet from ring center.

Then there were suggestive shots of the ring girls as they paraded around the ring carrying the huge cards indicating which round is coming up next.

There were also shots of the agony of defeat and thrill of victory after each fight.

But none could come close to the funniest shot about an incident that was unfortunately on a non-televised fight. It could have been a humdinger of a shot had it been seen by people world over.

After the referee stepped in to stop the fight between Vanes Martirosyan and Saul Roman, Martirosyan went to a neutral corner, stood on the ring ropes with hands raised in a well deserved come-from-behind victory.

As soon as Martirosyan stepped down, one of his team members in an obvious demonstration of exhilaration attempted to carry Martirosyan on his shoulders to parade him around the ring.

But there was one problem. The guys in his excitement forgot that Martirosyan was a junior middleweight fighter who added more weight after he re-hydrated

The guy was not capable of lifting Martirosyan up his shoulders and in his attempt to load Martirosyan on his shoulders failed.

Martirosyan tumbled back.

Fortunately, there were many people surrounding him and were able to catch him and prevented him from crashing to the canvas.

It was funny when it happened but it could have easily caused injuries to Martirosyan.

Some of us who were ?shooting? the event? caught the incident for the record but unfortunately, the poor chap who made the boo-boo disappeared amongst the crowd in the ring and we missed a shot of his face. It would have been fun to see how red his face was.
