LET'S GO OSCAR, IT?S JUST ANOTHER FIGHT!

PhilBoxing.com

It is a sad day in sports anytime one of its great ones get in deep trouble associated with self inflicted issues. Regardless of what sport it maybe or the prominence of the athlete, from the rookies to the biggest stars, the damages are the same. Devastating to say the least!

Case in point: The Golden Boy himself, Oscar de la Hoya checking himself into a rehab facility.

This is reportedly is not the first time De La Hoya is involved in self inflicted problems. In his early days as a pro, he was reportedly an uncontrolled gambler and it took Bob Arum working with some casinos to limit his credit so that he would not gamble away everything.

Now news indicates that he has checked himself in a rehab facility so he can get rid of a worse problem - drug addiction.

I for one salute de la Hoya for making the gutsiest call in his life. It is never too easy to man up and admit that one has an addiction to drugs. If it was, we would not have drug addicts around. They will all be in rehab.

Therefore, for de la Hoya to realize that he needs to make this decision is awesome. For him to admit that he has this self-inflicted issue is admirable and it sets him on the right path to getting rid of this demon.

Given his mental attitude I have no doubt that he will score a knock-out against this devastating self-inflicted issue and will have his hand eventually rise in triumph.

Either one is an ODLH fan or a hater, this is not the time to put the guy down for each of us is human and mistakes can happen in one?s life. The best thing to do is to support him and make him know that people are behind him.

Let?s all join hands and pray that the Golden Boy can lick this problem and get back to the business of boxing. After all, he has given us some of the best memories in boxing and he deserves it.

On the lighter side, what?s boxing without Oscar to kick around?

To Oscar I say - come on man, let?s go. It?s just another fight and you can win it! It may take you the whole 12 rounds, so to speak, and you may end up battered and bruise but in the end you will triumph.
