HEATH ELLIS FIGHTS AGAIN ON APRIL 1

PhilBoxing.com

Heath Ellis.
Fil-Australian Heath ?The Heat? Ellis, fresh from an impressive 2nd round knockout of Thailand?s Yodmongkol Singwancha in a battle for the vacanat WBC Asia Boxing Council light liddleweight title last March 18 will be back in action on April 1.

Well known Australian promoter and TV KO Boxing host Peter Maniatis said that Ellis will face Indonesia?s Jonathan Simamora at the Town Hall in Malvern, Victoria.

Maniatis said ?it should be a good fight for Heath to build confidence after his knockout loss last year to Steve Maxwell.?

The loss by Ellis set back the big plans Maniatis had for Ellis whose mother is a Filipina and father an Australian, Neil Ellis.

The fight against Maxwell started well with Ellis demonstrating his skill and good movement to win the first three rounds and hurting Maxwell on occasions with his combinations.

At the start of the fourth round Maniatis said Maxwell ?landed a big left hook which seemed to hurt Ellis and blood started to come out from his nose. Maxwell sensed Ellis was hurt and came in to finish the fight but Ellis responded and started trading blows with Maxwell?

Maniatis said ?the last punch was a bomb that landed on Heath to send him to the canvas and the referee (Ignatius Missailidis) counted Heath Ellis out at 1.23 seconds of the 4th round.?

In his last fight Ellis blasted Yodmongkol to improve his record to 14-2-1 with 7 knocvkouts after earlier beating Benny Hora by an eight rou8nd unanimous decision last November 19 in what turned out to be a rough and tumble bout.

The 27 year old Simamora who has an unimpressive record of 22-17-4 with 8 knockouts is coming off a 2nd round TKO to Indonesian countryman Roy Tua Manihuruk in a Indonesian Professional Boxing Commiccion light middleweight title fight last February 6 and isn?t expected to give Ellis a hard time.

Maniatis also disclosed that he has a co-promotion with Mayor Zander Khan featuring former world title challenger Balweg Bangoyan (16-2, 7 KO?s) at the Almendras Gym in Davao City on April 17.

Bangoyan will clash with Nelson Llanos (22-24-2, 9 KO?s) in what appears be a tune-up fight since Maniatis indicated he plans on getting Balweg an lBF international title after his bout against Llanos.
