VILORIA WILL RETAIN WBC TITLE, SAYS GORRES
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Thu, 09 Feb 2006
World Boxing Council light-flyweight kingpin Brian Viloria will make a successful defense of his title on February 18, as he has all the tools to defeat his opponent Jose Antonio Aguirre at the Alladin Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This was revealed yesterday by Viloria's chief sparmate at the Wild Card Boxing Gym, Z Gorres, as the latter emphasized that the "Hawaiian Punch" has too much arsenal for the former world champ Aguirre.
"Brian is in tremendous shape. I've sparred with him many times, and I just know it he will come on top," said Gorres, when asked of Viloria's chances over the Erik Morales-managed Aguirre.

The 25-year-old Viloria will be making the first defense of the title he won with an earth-shaking knockout win over Mexican Eric Ortiz last September, as he faces a dangerous foe in Aguirre (33-4-1, 20 KO's), the long-reigning WBC minimumweight champion.
The winner of the fight is scheduled to defend the title against Filipino Juanito Rubillar next, according to the WBC.
Aside from Gorres, Viloria had also sparred with WBO Asia-Pacific bantam champ Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista, and stood his ground against the power-punching phenom from Candijay, Bohol.

"We are confident on Brian's chances for the fight. He keeps a strict disciplinarian lifestyle, and we program his day-to-day activities like what a world champions should do," revealed Brian's father Benjamin, in an interview recently in Las Vegas.
