TRUE DIE-HARD FILIPINO BOXING FAN

This past week boxing business manager Michael Koncz received a warm correspondence from a doctor in Canoga Park, California. This was not the first time that Koncz received communications of solicitation pertaining to boxers he is involved with.
However, this one seemed special in that a doctor expressed his genuine concern with the safety of fighters and stressed that most, if not all, over the counter mouthpieces are in adequate and do very little to protect a fighter from serious injury. In light of this concern, the Doctor extended an offer to provide each fighter with custom made mouthpieces.

Business manager Michael Koncz, Diosdado Gabi and, trainer Edito "ALA" Villamor, with ALA boys Z Gorres, Czar Amonsot and Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista drove 2 hours from Orange, County to the office of Doctor Ed De La Vega in Canoga Park, California last Monday and received a warm welcome from the doctor and his staff.
Like an assembly line, Dr. De La Vega made plaster imprints of each of the boxers mouths and within two hours fitted them with customized mouthpieces. Prior to leaving, Koncz requested an invoice for the services rendered and to his astonishment, Doctor De La Vega pointed to each of the specific boxers and stated that "the only compensation I want is for you to win your upcoming fights". In addition, it was learned the doctor has traveled at his own expense to watch the last 2 fights of Boom Boom Bautista and will travel to Vegas on Feb 3 to cheer for Gorres and Amonsot who will be on a fight card at the Orleans casino. Now, that is a true Filipino boxing fan!
