BARRERA RETURNS FOR REVENGE PhilBoxing.com Wed, 19 Jan 2011  Featherweight Alejandro ?Zorrito? Barrera of Mexico is set to return to the Philippines boxing capital Cebu for the much awaited rematch against Filipino adversary Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista scheduled on January 29, 2011 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino. Barrera exchanged blows and lost to Bautista last August 28, 2010 via technical decision when he suffered a nasty cut on his eyelid that prompted the ring physician to end the bout with Barrera getting the shorter end of the stick. The referee ruled that the cut came from a legitimate punch as it was shown again over the television replay. The Mexican camp though screamed in protest claiming the cut came from a head butt and thereafter demanded for an immediate rematch which the Bautista camp accepted. This will be a first in recent Philippine boxing history that a rematch of this scale is being done in Cebu,Philippines. A significant number of fans are expected to return and witness the conclusion of this battle between these feuding fighters. The Mexican Barrera who now sports a record of W 21 (KO 14) L 4 D 0 is hell bent on exacting his long awaited revenge on the Filipino Bautista as he has been training very hard to prepare for this fight. It was even reported earlier on one of the most respected boxing websites that the Zorrito from Mexico has been religiously training with Olympic boxing compatriot and Bautista punisher Daniel Ponce De Leon. It was reported that the compadres are devising a plan to knock-out the young Filipino boxing hopeful. Upon finding out that Boom Boom has been training non-stop over the holidays, Barrera, through email said ?no matter how hard or what training Bautista is doing, it will be of no use because I got his number now and I am going to knock him out come fight night.? Alejandro Barrera is coming from a very impressive fifth round stoppage over Arturo Hernandez of Mexico and vowed to do the same over Boom Boom while Bautista has been quietly preparing for this rematch. Team Barrera of Mexico is scheduled to arrive on the 24th of January, 2011. Team Barrera is to do a scheduled Press Luncheon at the Mooon Caf? I.T. Park 11 AM of the 25th of January 2011 where expected to join him are the local sports media of Cebu. He also will be doing a Public Work-out at the Piazza area of the Park Mall in Mandaue 5 PM January 26, 2011. Would this rematch be revenge for Alejandro Barrera or will this again be reason to re asses his ring profession?
