The Cast of PINOY PRIDE 3 Stage Public Sparring Session

PhilBoxing.com

Rey ?BoomBoom? Bautista played the crowd like a politician as he shook hands, posed for pictures and even hugged and kissed babies after his sparring session with ALA stablemate James Bacon at the Park Mall in Mandaue City Saturday evening.

Bautista looked sharp and said that he would like a more decisive result this time around.

?I am aware of what people have been saying after I won. They were very hurtful. It?s not just a question of who wins or loses. I also think fans should be satisfied with the ending. I will try to win convincingly, win by knockout.? Bautista talked to the sportswriters watching at ringside after his workout.

Last August, Bautista beat Alejandro Barrera by 4th round TKO due to a cut on the Mexican?s right eyelid. The cut was inflicted by a punch as the reply showed ? the clash of heads was on the opposite side ? but the fans left the Waterfront Hotel with negative opinions. This fight billed as PINOY PRIDE 3: THE REMATCH will hopefully settle the unfinished business.

?I did not have the best preparation the last time.? Bautista said. ?I am glad coach Edmund Villamor has spent more time with me, especially with the mitts. I am not afraid that Barrera is training with Daniel Ponce de Leon. I am now familiar with his style. I was at a disadvantage the first time. My fights are on youtube, he has studied them. I never saw Barrera?s fights.?

When asked if the presence of his girlfriend inspired him to perform better. Bautista replied ?Yes, but I?d rather fight without thinking about the people at ringside worried about me. When my parents watch, I know they are worried.?

Bautista is also thinking about future challenges. If there are people willing to promote the match-up with Bernabe Concepcion or another title shot, then he will train hard for it.

Mark Jason Melligen and Jason Pagara also had a slam-bang three round sparring session. Melligen will continue his training in the U.S. as he is pencilled to fight in the undercard of the Nonito Donaire-Fernando Montiel superfight.

Melligen showed a few moves on defence obviously influenced by certain Floyd Mayweather. Pagara will fight Indonesian Billy Sumba in the Pinoy Pride 3 undercard.

Newly crowned PABA bantamweight champ Roli Gasca sparred with Boyce Sultan.

Gasca will also appear in Pinoy Pride 3 and fight Joash Aperecio.

The comical Jojo ?Flash? Intor brought laughter with his three round session against Jocel Gestopa.

Intor has become a fixture of the Waterfront Hotel fight cards and will face Albert Villacampa.

Albert Pagara, a former national amateur champion and younger brother of Jason, is set to make his pro debut this January 15 at the I.T. Park. He sparred with Rey Tabogon. Michael Romarate versus Zaldy Aroa opened the evening?s festivities.

John Magat of Y101 FM was the master of ceremonies and handed out free tickets to the fans.

PINOY PRIDE 3 will also feature former WBC Silver champion Edrin ?The Sting? Dapudong of North Cotabato versus Sofyan Effendi of Indonesia. Fight day is on January 29 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
