WBC World Boxing Cares Chairperson Jill Diamond wrote about the charitable organization?s most recent visit:
On Saturday, December 18, WBC World Boxing Cares came out to support Carley Nieves, goddaughter of referee Benjy Esteves, for the Blood and Bone Marrow Drive at Christ the King High School in Queens, New York. Carley is going through a bone marrow procedure because of recurring leukemia. Some of our athletes and officials actually gave blood, so they?re not in this picture. We wish Carley, a remarkable young girl who mentors other children with this condition, healing and health. Carley, was presented with a WBC Certificate of Excellence for her courage and humanity.
Also, we have the privilege to collaborate with Houcine Houichi and Sonstone Kashiba again this year for the All-Africa Games (54 competing nations). We are well on our way to getting forearm crutches to Maputo for the children?s hospital. Thanks to help from Raylene Carbone and her co-workers at Medline, Bruce Silverglade at Gleason?s Gym, Dr. Peter Amico and Dr. Frederick Belvalaqua, 50 injured children will be able to join their community for the first time. This is an amazing gift!
Of course, all of this is made possible because of our President, Jos? Sulaim?n, who gave us the platform and support to do all this! Also many thanks to Arena Promotions for all the facilities!
