Ana Julaton returns to the ring December 17th....but in a new role PhilBoxing.com Thu, 16 Dec 2010 ![]() 3 time World Champion and current WBO and IBA Superbantamweight titlist Ana "The Hurricane" Julaton will be returning to the ring Friday December 17th. This time she will be stepping in a new role as Head Trainer of Nate Houghteling star of the hit reality tv series "White Collar Brawler". White Collar Brawler is a documentary web series that follows two lifelong friends, Ivy League grads, and former white collar workers who ditch the cubicle and pursue their dream of becoming amateur boxers. The show reaches its climax when the two step in the ring for the first time ? to fight each other. Episodes are released in real-time on www.WhiteCollarBrawler.com With only three weeks left till fight day the show took a dramatic turn when Nate asked the Female fighting pride of Filipino's World Wide if she could help coach him for the final phase of his training. Interested in the challenge of only having three weeks to prepare a fighter for his ultimate test Ana Julaton decided to jump at the project. Here is the you tube version of the episode with Ana Julaton http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bGF4RI9800 "I found it to be a new challenge, I know Coach Freddie started working the corner at a young age and I wanted to see what it's like to play the role of Head Coach for a big event" said our Filipina champion. When asked is this a future move for Ana Julaton and is she following in the footsteps of her Legendary Trainer Freddie Roach the WBO World Champ had this to say " I have enjoyed this process and I think it's making me a better fighter to see it from the Coaches perspective. I actually really liked it and I can see myself if given the opportunity in the future to Coach someone at an amateur and a Professional Level. There is so much I've learned from Freddie Roach. He would always tell me that he is simply passing on what he's learned from Eddie Futch and I feel it's a responsibility to have the honor of passing on that style of boxing to others who wish to learn about the sport." "Ana Julaton has been a perfect teacher...she has shown me the style and speed that has taken me to a different level. Ana and her team has a constant enthusiasm and passion for the sport that comes with being a professional" said Nate houghteling on an interview with Philippine News (youtube version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2te5KxUA55E ) Three months ago, the Bay Area web series White Collar Brawler launched with nothing more than two out-of-shape white collar workers, a boxing trainer, and a website. Twenty episodes, two million video views, fifteen thousand social media fans, and two fiercely trained fighters later, the series has cemented itself as a local and online sensation. And now for the final act: six minutes in the ring between two best friends for "The Final Showdown" on Friday, December 17. In the red corner will be Nate Houghteling, coached by Freddie Roach prot?g? and 3-time World Champion Ana "The Hurricane" Julaton. In the blue corner will be Kai Hasson, coached by USF boxing coach Angelo Merino. Angelo Merino is known most recently for arranging the Philippine amateur boxing team to train earlier this year in the San Francisco Bay Area. The USF Head Coach is known as one of the top amateur boxing trainers in San Francisco. Winning this Friday is no easy feat for Coach Ana Julaton or the rest of Team Nate. "I know that Angelo Merino is an experienced coach and that I'm the underdog in that sense. With the type of training Nate has received from Team Julaton I feel he has shown heart and passion for the sport of boxing and that already makes him a winner in my eyes no matter what the outcome is Friday night" said Coach Julaton. The Fight will be at the weight of 170lbs. The two combatants will be weighing in on the Television show "Chronicle Live" aired today on Comcast Sports Net Bay Area. Tickets have been selling at a fast pace for this event http://whitecollarbrawler.com/thefinalshowdown/ ![]() |
