MELINDO VS TAMARA: MATCH-UP OF THE YEAR

PhilBoxing.com

The highly anticipated fight between Milan ?El Metodico? Melindo of the Philippines and Carlos ?El Olympico? Tamara of Colombia on November 27, 2010 could easily be the match-up of the year.

As the main feature of the PINOY PRIDE 2: Best of the Best event, this match-up is guaranteed to be a battle royal for both fighters who are among the toughest in their division.

This surely is going to be an explosive fight with both fighters being aggressive. Tamara is famous for being the warrior that survived and came from behind to defeat former Filipino World Champion Brian ?The Hawaiin Punch? Viloria. The Colombian was way behind the scorecards of that fight but showed tremendous heart and a never say never attitude stealing the win with a late 12th round TKO over the Filipino Viloria.

Melindo on the other hand is known for his cerebral approach and methodical dismantling of his opponents. His mastery of the sweet science of boxing has earned him respect from boxing experts worldwide. Criticized for his lack of power, Melindo worked on that flaw knocking down and dethroning Anthony Villareal of the United States as WBC Youth International Champion and dropping powerful Korean banger Jin Man Jeon in two quick rounds during his last fight.

The two ring gladiators have different motivations coming into this fight with Tamara yearning for his lost glory and the young Melindo who is craving for the recognition deserves and believes his time is now. With these two fighters fighting each other, there surely would be fireworks in the ring.

The Melindo-Tamara fight has also created a buzz globally as foreign media and international inquiries have been entertained at the ALA Promotions head office.

ALA Promotions Vice President said ?We have received international inquiries regarding tickets and hotel booking assistance from countries like Colombia and the United states. We also have foreign media inquiring about the said fight and requesting for updates from time to time.? Canete added that ?Our office lines are busy entertaining calls for ticket purchases as early as two weeks before the fight and we really are surprised with the response.?

Chad Canares who heads the Media and Public Relations for ALA Promotions added ?Making this fight was one very daunting task but we had to make it happen as it is always a priority for ALA Promotions to give and present the Filipinos world class boxing events. We are firm in our stand and we always push forward with our vision to make the Philippines especially Cebu the boxing Mecca of Asia comparable to Las Vagas in the United States.?

PINOY PRIDE 2: Best of the Best is a major presentation of ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports. This event is supported by the City Government of Cebu, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, SM City Cebu, International Bar Complex, Mooon Caf?, Hukad, Sports Exchange Bar and Grill and your official knock-out station Y101 Alwqays First.
