AMERICAN BOXING ACADEMY'S UNDEFEATED UDTUHAN TO FIGHT IN CAVITE
PhilBoxing.com Fri, 19 Nov 2010
American Boxing Academy's KO specialist Bert Udtuhan has been quietly knocking out fighter after fighter around the Philippines for the last 2 years.
Udtuhan a superflyweight who is 16-0, has knocked out 13 opponents while toiling behind some of American Boxing Academy's more heralded fighters like former WBO Inter-Cont and Asia Pacific champ Ramie Laput 39-4, WBO #9 rated Jether Oliva 15-0, and former #1 Philippine rated Fernando Lumacad 22-3.
Udtuhan, who hails from Digos City in Mindanao, will get his chance to step into the limelight when he battles Rex Olisa 7-3 in a 10 round fight this Saturday night in Imus, Cavite. The fight is scheduled to be shown on the national broadcast "the main event" on RPN 9.
The southpaw Udtuhan will be using this fight to try to work his way into a WBO regional title fight early next year. American Boxing Academy manager Ken Smith told PhilBoxing that his promoter Sammy Gello-ani has assured him that should Udtuhan win impressively then the Filipino KO specialist would most certainly be included in one of the International Promoter Gello-ani"s upcoming WBO events.
Smith said, "Sammy has been very impressed with our progress since moving Bert and some of my other fighters to Cebu to train there with him. I am confident that Bert will equally impress the Filipino boxing fans with his crowd pleasing style and that Bert will continue to knock guys out just like he has been doing until he gets his shot at a title."
