OQUENDO KO'S SONSONA!

Puerto Rico's Jonathan Oquendo stopped Filipino Eden Sonsona in the ninth round seconds ago at the to win the NABO superbantamweight title at the Coliseo Jose Miguel Agrelot.
The end came at the 1:05 mark of the ninth.
Sonsona started strong in the earlier rounds, but a knockdown in the eighth frame seemed to have taken the fight out of him.
A big right put down Sonsona for the first time in the eighth, and another right in the ninth finished off the Filipino.
In an interview with ABS-CBN's Dyan Castillejo, Sonsona said the low blows from Oquendo seemed to have affected him in the fight, while trainers Buboy Fernandez and Nonoy Neri pointed out that the referee gave Oquendo enough time to recover.
Sonsona apologized to the Filipino fans for his failure to win this one, but said he will make it up next time.
