Gorres-Pornobnum to be aired in the US By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Fri, 21 Oct 2005 Next Saturday's Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation eliminator bout between no. 1 super-flyweight contender Z ?The Dream? Gorres and Thailand's Wisanu Pornobnum at the Mandaue Sports and Cultural Complex will be aired in the United States and the Middle East through the Pinoy Box Office (PBO) channel. Much is at stake in this fight, as the winner gets the chance to fight for the OPBF super-flyweight championship and get to trade blows with Waengpetch Chuwatana of Thailand. Waengpetch will be taking on current OPBF champ Masayuki Arinaga of Japan in the scheduled title bout on November 3 in Tokyo. Win or lose, the formidable Thai will get to fight the winner of the Gorres-Pornobnum tussle for the prestigious OPBF title early next year. Gorres, who has long dreamed for this opportunity, will not easily relinquish his dream for the OPBF belt. Boasting a fight record of 21-1-1 win-loss-draw with 11 wins inside the distance, the fleet-footed Cebuano has trained long and hard in preparation for this eliminator fight. As part of the main header, reigning Philippine Bantamweight champion Michael Domingo will defend his title against no. 1 contender Rolly Lunas. Domingo, who is sporting a 25-14-3 win-loss-draw fight record will defend for the first time his newly acquired title having wrested the crown from then champion Joel Bauya last July of this year. In the undercard, newly-minted ALA boy Robert Allanic will battle it out with RP No. 10 Super Flyweight Roy Doliguez. Allanic will fight the veteran Doliguez in his 10th fight having just impressively won in his last bout last September 17 stopping John Ray Verano in the third round. This will be a big break for the Cliff Smart prot?g? to move into the ratings. Other bouts will include Rocky Fuentes versus Bert Gawat, Rollen del Castillo vs. Arex Aroy from RWS Stable, Jun Intor vs. Winnie Bartiquil and 3 opening bouts from Milan Melindo, Alberto Yap and Racheid Bacus as they trade punches with Juaren LIbrez, Ali Marapao and Tantan Recablanca respectively. This explosive boxing extravaganza produced by SGG Sports Promotions will be covered by VIVA Sports and televised through, MAIN EVENT, shown on RPN 9, starting on Oct. 30 from 1PM to 3PM. The event is sponsored by Tanduay, the No. 1 Rhum, Cebu Grand Hotel and Republic Chemicals, Inc.
