Butar-butar KO?s Bantilan for IBO Asia-Pacific title By Alex P. Vidal PhilBoxing.com Tue, 04 Dec 2007 Indonesian ribcracker Simson Butar-butar added Filipino Van ?Holyfield? Bantilan in his list of KO victim, stopping the visitor with a right upper to the body in the second round of a 12-round battle for vacant International Boxing Organization (IBO) Asia-Pacific super-featherweight title in Semarang, Indonesa December 1. Boxing promoter Temuzin Rambing, who watched the fight at ringside, reported that Butar-butar (17-7, 13 KOs) was the stronger fighter and started pressing the attack in the first round and had no problem disposing of the upset-conscious Bantillan, who was defeated for the first time (11-1-1, 5 KOs). The Butar-butar vs Bantilan fight was one of the three IBO Asia-Pacific titles disputed in Semarang that night. The other were that of Palazona Fidal (Super Flyweight) versus Thailand?s Sairung Suwanasil and Afrizal (Featherweight) versus Kularbdang Kiatkeerin at round Four, Fidal stopped Suwansil in round six while Afrizal kayoed Kiatkeerin in four rounds. Rambing said Afrizal showed his class in round four by landing more than ten unanswered punches to his Thai opponent prompting the referee to stop the contest. Rambing added that Fidal dropped his opponent with an accurate right hook to the jaw. ?Indonesian referee Borlak stopped the contest after Suwanasil couldn?t stand up after ten count. Fidal is the former Indonesian Minimum Champ for a long time,? reported Rambing, who recently attended the 45th WBc Convention in Manila. The fights were supervised by Phil Austin of Australia, commissioner of IBO Asia Pacific. Also in attendance were: Aljoe O. Jaro, manager of IBF minimumweight champion Florante Condes and Surapol Rangsikulpipat from Thailand, manager of former world champion Ratanapol and Ratanachai sor Vorapin.
