DONAIRE A?INT NO ONE PUNCH WONDER!
By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Mon, 03 Dec 2007

Mashantucket, Connecticut -- Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire proved all his detractors wrong here tonight at the events center of the world?s largest casino resort, the Foxwoods, when he systematically destroyed the highly durable Luis "Titi" Maldona enroute to 8th round TKO victory.
First they said that he will have a hard time making the weight. That allegation was easily negated yesterday at the weigh-in. Donaire came in a sizzling 111 lbs.
Then in reference to his one punch knocked out of the then undefeated Vic Darchinyan to snatch the world title, people said Donaire is just ?a one punch wonder?.
Tonight with his performance at the Foxwoods all of those allegations are down the drain.

Maldonado down on the canvas in the 7th round.
Donaire methodically followed his game plan crafted by his team lead by no less than his dad, Nonito Sr. and came up with a beautiful performance, an eight round TKO of the very game but totally out-classed Luis ?Titi? Maldonado of Mexico.
Donaire however, did not come out un-scratched. He evidently hurt his left hand early in the fight after opening up cuts of the face of his opponent. That prevented him from ending the fight earlier.
But in spite of his hands hurting, he keep his composure and stuck to the game plan. In the end, it was his fire power backed up by his disciplined approach to the fight that spelled the difference.
His victory over Maldonado sealed the validity of his championship belt.
Donaire is one of the best, if not the very best amongst today?s flyweights.
No one can dispute that now.
