IBF SAYS SHAW TO ATTEND GORRES-DARCHINYAN PURSE BID
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 16 Nov 2007

The chairman of the IBF Championship Committee Lindsey Tucker Jr says he is not aware of reports that promoter Gary Shaw who handles IBO super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan is not interested in promoting the title eliminator between Z ?The Dream? Gorres and former IBF/IBO flyweight champion Darchinyan.
Viva Sports/Manila StandardToday was informed earlier that the Gorres camp had accepted an offer made by the Darchinyan camp but that subsequently promoter Gary Shaw decided not to go ahead. Although Shaw is in Manila for the WBC Convention we haven't been able to talk to him as yet.
As a result the handlers of Gorres headed by Tony Aldeguer who owns the ALA Gym have indicated they will make a purse offer.
However, in the midst of the confusion Tucker informed us that ?a member of Gary Shaw?s group told me that he would be attending the purse bid? which is scheduled for November 8 at the New Jersey offices of the IBF.
We also learned that whoever wins the purse offer, Darchinyan will get 60 percent and Gorres 40 percent because the Australian is ranked No. 5 by the IBF and Gorres No.6.
Sports Nut of Australia reported earlier that the manager of Darchinyan, Elias Nasser told a Sydney radio station that they were prepared to pay ?whatever it takes? to have the fight staged in Sydney.
Tucker clarified that ?any IBF registered promoter can bid on this eliminator. Currently there are 30 IBF registered promoters. If a promoter is not registered he may still be able to get a registered promoter to bid for him. However, the registered promoter must pay all fees and promote the fight.?
The winner of the eliminator between Gorres who is the IBF Intercontinental champion and Darchinyan will get a mandatory title shot at recently crowned champion Dimitri Kirilov of Russia who is handled by celebrated trainer Freddie Roach.
