Dacquel Defends OPBF Belt against Kimura Wednesday in Tokyo; Both Men Make Weight
By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Tue, 18 Jul 2017

Defending Filipino OPBF Super Flyweight Champion Rene Dacquel (R) of Abra and Japanese challenger Hayato Kimura successfully made weight today ahead of their 12-rounder title clash Wednesday (July 19) at the legendary Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
Dacquel (19-6-1, 6 KO's) weighed in 200 grams under the limit of the super flyweight division (which is 52.16 kgs, 115 lbs), while his opponent, Hayato Kimura, weighed-in right at the limit of the super flys.
It's the 7th time that the WBC #17 Rene Dacquel battles in the land of the legendary samurai warriors, so far with a win-lose record in Japan of 4-2-1
A clear, decisive victory over Kimura could earn Rene Dacquel a place among the WBC top 15 super flyweights... while a loss to the 28-year-old Nippon boxer would not help his career at all.
The super flyweights is a red hot division where the current world champion is Thailander Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, scheduled to a September 9 rematch against Nicaraguan star 4-division world champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez.
The Dacquel-Kimura OPBF title match is the co-main of Wednesday's card at the Korakuen.
The main war will feature two veteran Japanese fighters: OPBF Super Bantamweight titlist Hidenori Otake of Fukushima putting his green/gold belt on the line against Kinshiro Usui of Kanagawa.
