Weigh-in: Niyomtrong, Loreto Make 105 for WBA World Title Saturday in Thailand By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Fri, 14 Jul 2017 Both, unbeaten WBA Minimumweight World Champion Thammanoon Niyomtrong of Thailand and Filipino WBA #1 mandatory challenger Rey "Hitman" Loreto scaled-in at the limit of the division, 105 lbs, for their tough world title battle Saturday afternoon (July 15) in Chonburi, Kingdom of Thailand. The undefeated Niyomtrong (15-0, 7KO's) has been a WBA titlist since October of 2014. Before that, Niyomtrong was a fearsome Muy Thai Champion (Thai Kick boxing). Meanwhile, the Filipino challenger Loreto has been IBO World Champion in the 108 lbs., now is coming down in weight to 105 lbs. He knocked out his last six opponents including recent knockout wins in Thailand, Japan, South Africa and Monaco. Loreto is not an easy fish. The official weigh-in ceremony, as well as medical check-up, took place today (Friday July 14) at the Chon Inter Hotel in Chonburi; both 26-year-old warriors cruising over their assignments with flying colors. Present during the act were the WBA officials in charge: Puerto Rico Boxing Hall-of-famer third man Rafael Ramos; supervisor and judges Renzo Bagnariol of Nicaragua, Ferlin Marsh of New Zealand, Takeshi Shimakawa of Japan and Ignacio Robles of Panama. Nyonmtrong is handled by Thailand's Diamond Boxing of veteran promoter Virat Vachirarattanawong, while the challenger Loreto is promoted by Highland Boxing of Brico Santig. The Niyomtrong vs Loreto WBA world title clash will be broadcast live in the Kingdom of Thailand on Thai BBTV Channel 7.
