The Gunnslinger Eyes 2nd Straight Win In Cruiserweight Title Bout
PhilBoxing.com Thu, 29 Jun 2017
When it comes to former IBA Cruiserweight Champion Bobby Gunn, it is evident that there are still some bullets left in the gun, and he's firing on all cylinders.
Following a hard nosed fight against future hall of famer Roy Jones Jr. in February, Gunn returned to the square circle in April and emerged victoriously with a second round KO.
Gunn returns to action July 22 in Huntington, West Virginia as he looks at add another Cruiserweight strap to his resume. Part of an action packed card featuring several title fights, Gunn is anxious to get back between the ropes and resume work.
"It felt great to get the 'W' in April, but now my focus is completely on the fight in July," said Gunn. "I can't let the cat out of the bag just yet, but with another win there are some major implications of another World Title shot against a big name former champion. But first things first, I have to get past my opponent on the 22nd of July."
Promoted by Edgewood Promotions, the fight card also includes local favorite 'Dirty' Don Pennington who will be competing for a super middleweight title. Pennington is coming off a dominating performance April 15, and has only suffered defeat once in his impressive career. Also on the card is Nathan Butcher, Thomas Miller, and Gunn's protege Chris Cella battling for the WBB Light Middleweight Title, amongst several others.
"This whole fight card features exciting fighters of varied weight classes," said Gunn. "If you're able to be there live to witness the fireworks I encourage you to do so, or don't miss it streamed live on Internet PPV."
Doors open at Black Sheep Harley Davidson July 22 at 7 pm with the fights starting at 8.
