WBO Youth Title at stake on June 10 for Paras-Haya battle of prospects PhilBoxing.com Wed, 31 May 2017 ![]() On June 10, the Mandaue Sports Complex will play host to the WBO Asia Pacific Youth light flyweight championship fight between 18 year-old Vince Paras of General Santos City against 22 year-old Jimboy Haya of the Omega Gym, Cebu. Paras is sporting an impressive undefeated record in 10 fights with 9 of those wins by way of knockouts. A bright young prospect from Mindanao, Paras however has never fought past 6 rounds in his boxing career. He will be tested against Haya who has an equally impressive record of 10 wins, 3 losses, 2 draws with 6 KOs. This will be a massive step up in competition for Paras as Haya has fought the full 6 rounds 4 times, 3 times for 8 rounds, fought a full 10-round fight once and also finished a 12-round war with none other than WBO world No. 2 Vic Saludar. If Paras is expecting an easy and trouble-free fight against Haya, he will be in for a shock of his life because Haya is not only a well-conditioned ring warrior, he also has a tendency to resort to foul tactics when he gets frustrated. Haya once lost via a disqualification against Jay-R Raquinel caused by repeated low blows in the 3rd round. He was also deducted a point against Saludar for deliberately carrying and throwing him down in round 7. Paras will be Haya?s 7th undefeated opponent so the latter will be unfazed especially that the fight will be held in his backyard. The winner of the Paras-Haya fight will be guaranteed a top 15 world ranking with the WBO in the light flyweight division, which is ruled by Japanese Kosei Tanaka. The June 10 card billed as "ENGKWENTRO DINHI SA MANDAUE " VISAYAS VS. MINDANAO is promoted by Kenneth Rontal of the Championship Boxing Development of the Philippines. It will also feature WBO World No. 2 and reigning WBO Oriental minimumweight champ Vic Saludar (14W-2L, 9KOs) of Polomolok, South Cotabato in a 10-round non-title tussle against former WBC Eurasia minimumweight titlist Toto Landero (8W-1L-2D, 2KOs) of Pontevedra, Negros Occidental. Also on the card is Froilan Saludar (24W-2L-1D, 15 KOs) against Salatiel Amit (10W-2L, 7KOs) of Omega Gym, Cebu. Undefeated Robert Paradero (13W-0L,8KO?s) of Bukidnon will be tested against Cebuano grizzled veteran Fabio Marfa (25W-33L-4D,12KO?s) and as a special attraction on the card, a female bout featuring undefeated Casey Morton from Hawaii, USA against Phannaluk Kongsang of Thailand.
