ARUM SAYS JESSIE VARGAS IS A VERY OFFENSIVE FIGHTER AND IS BEGINNING TO REALLY PUNCH
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Wed, 31 Aug 2016

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum continues his efforts to drum up interest in the showdown between eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao and WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas which takes place at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas on November 5.
Arum has cautioned fight fans and the media who have played down the Vargas fight as being an easy fight for Pacquiao that there is no guarantee that Pacquiao will beat Vargas. The Top Rank promoter feels the fight will be ?a lot tougher than what many people expect it to be.? Arum told boxing scene that Vargas ?is not an opponent who goes into his shell, who?s a defensive fighter. He?s very, very offensive and he is beginning to really punch with authority.?
Should Pacquiao win as most people believe then Arum already has some ideas in mind for Pacquiao's likely final year in the sport.
He said ?If he wins this fight, we have the idea for a couple of big fights next year. And I think that will end his career with two more fights in 2017.?
In an unprecedented move after several years, Pacquiao plans to undertake his entire training camp in the Philippines to avoid any potential conflicts with his duties as a senator and his commitment not to neglect his duties which training for the Vargas showdown.
Arum said ?I don?t know how extensive the work is as a senator in the Philippines. Manny does, the other senators do, they all feel and Manny feels that he can train here in Manila and not miss any sessions, fight in the period when the Senate is in recess, and give a great performance.?
Arum added ?In fact whether he can do that or not, that?s up to him. It?s something that we have never ever seen before in the sport of boxing.?
