CASIMERO CONFIDENT HE CAN DROP ?CHOCOLATITO? GONZALEZ

PhilBoxing.com

Newly crowned IBF flyweight champion John Reil Casimero wants pound for pound No. 1 WBC/WBA flyweight champion Roman ?Chocolatito? Gonzalez for his next fight after scoring a 4th round knockout over previously undefeated Thai world champion and IBF ?Fighter of the Year? Amnat Ruenroeng in Beijing, China last Wednesday.

Casimero who enjoyed what he termed a sumptuous dinner at our home in Quezon City along with trainer Jhun Agrabio, co-promoter Sammy Gello-ani and other members of Team Casimero, told The Standard ?I plan to fight Roman ?Chocolatito? Gonzalez whose name was first called out by well-known lead promoter Sampson Lewkowicz right after the Amnat fight.

The internet site Bad Left Hook said Lewkowicz who now handles three world champions including Casimero, a two division world champion, ?immediately called out pound for pound No.1 and unbeaten Roman ?Chocolatito? Gonzalez for a unification bout saying ?tell him we are ready any time.?

He said a unification bout between Casimero and Gonzalez needs to happen.

He claimed ?they say no one wants to fight Gonzalez. We do! John Reil is right here and ready to unify the championships. My phone is always on. Let?s make it happen.?

Casimero admitted that the 28 year old Nicaraguan ?Chocolatito? Gonzalez ?who has a record of 45-0 with 38 knockouts ?is tough but I can take him. He is like Amnat, unbeaten, but I can drop ?Chocolatito? just like I dropped Ruenroeng twice in the fourth round.

In his last fight on April 23 this year at The Forum in Inglewood, C alifornia, Gonzalez scored a near shutout victory over Puerto Rico?s talented McWilliams Arroyo.

ESPN senior writer Dan Rafael reporting on the fight said ?Gonzalez once again showed why he is widely hailed as the pound for pound king as he methodically beat down Arroyo in a one-sided decision.? Gonzalez retained the 112 pound title for the fourth time and made it look rather easy against a quality contender in Arroyo.

In October 2015 Gonzalez dominated former unified title holder Brian Viloria who started off aggressively but soon felt the power of ?Chocolatito? who bloodied his nose, saw Viloria?s face swell up and pounded him in the 9th round before the referee called a halt.
