'TRIPLE TROUBLE' HEATS UP IN KIDAPAWAN!

PhilBoxing.com

This year's biggest boxing event in Mindanao comes off the wraps when 'Triple Trouble' takes place on Saturday, 3PM, at the Provincial Gymnasium in Kidapawan, North Cotabato.

The free-to-the-public, 12-bout event, promoted by KingMaker Promotions of Soc Pinol, will feature three WBO Youth championships, plus the pro debut of some of the best amateur fighters from the Braveheart Boxing Stable.

No less than WBO Vice-President for Asia-Pacific Leon Panoncillo will supervise the bouts. Panoncillo is set to arrive tomorrow, as well as the Indonesian fighters and the Thai fighter seeing action in the card. International referee Bruce McTavish arrived in Davao today, while the other WBO officials are slated to hit town on Friday.

The event is also part of the thanksgiving celebration of the Pinol brothers who all came out victorious at the recent May 14 elections, led by Gov. Manny Pi?ol (now North Cotabato vice-governor-elect), Congressman-elect Bernardo ?Jun? Pi?ol Jr., re-elected Magpet Mayor Efren Pi?ol and M'lang Mayor-elect Lito Pi?ol.

Glenn 'Rapid Fire' Gonzales, an unbeaten featherweight prospect, battles Indonesia's Boydo Simanjuntak in a 10-round battle for the interim Youth WBO Asia Pacific featherweight title.

The southpaw native of Palma Perez, Mlang, Gonzales is a terrific combination fighter with tremendous amateur background. In his last outing in April, Gonzales handily defeated veteran international campaigner Pedro Malco.

Hot bantamweight prospect Glen 'The Rock' Porras, a native of Luz Village in Mlang, goes up against Indonesia's Marangin Marbun for the interim Youth WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight crown.

The 21-year-old Porras, a terrific pressure fighter, is riding high on a four-bout knockout spree, and is looking to add Simanjuntak to his list of victims.

The third championship bout will feature Edren 'The Sting' Dapudong, who has 12 wins in 13 outings, as he vies for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific Youth minimumweight title against Thailand's Sakmanee Sitkamnanchaliaw.

The other bouts of the card pit Dennis Juntillano versus Isidro Balabat; Reynaldo Belandres against Jake Verano; Rolando Magbanue against Daniel Solis; Lorenzo Villanueva versus Jilo Merlyn; Rommel Asenjo against Noel Rosa.

The rest of the match-ups pits Jernel Jabel versus Jun Marapao; Jonel Wamar against Renan Branzuela; Ronie Apelado versus Jojo Corpus; and Rolando Omila against Nelson Guindolan.
