MILENDO, DEL CASTILLO TOP 'RAMBOLAN SA BANTAYAN'
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Thu, 21 Jun 2007
An explosive boxing event comes off the wraps when the Bantayan Executive Committee, Pepsi and SGG Sports Promotions present the 'Kumo sa Kumo, Rambolan sa Bantayan' on June 26 at the Bantayan Multi-Purpose Center in Bantayan Island.
The event is held in celebration of the Bantayan Island annual fiesta, and will showcase six competitive match-ups.
ALA Boys Rollen Del Castillo and Milan Milendo will be facing separate opponents in the card's two ten-round bouts.
Del Castillo, the current RP no. 3 minimumweight, takes on Edmund Velayo, ranked RP no. 12, in a 10-round battle.
In the 10-round co-feature, unbeaten ALA Boy Milan Milendo goes up against Arnel Tadena in a match-up of two highly-improved fighters.
Milendo, the boxing wunderkind from Puerto, Cagayan de Oro City, is an old-school technical dynamo who has yet to see an 'L' in his ledger after compiling 11 wins with 2 KO's.
The Candijay, Bohol-raised Tadena, however, is expected to provide stern challenge with his 7 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw and 4 KO's record. Tadena has been unbeaten in his last five fights, and will provide a credible test for Milendo.
The other match-ups lined up in the card pit Fernando Otic versus Danny Boy Bontilao (8 rds); Frank Albia against Roldan Malinao (8 rds); Weng Haya versus Reggie Binueza (8 rds); and Marjo Borres against Mark John Yap (6 rds).
