CONDES NOW AT 107 LBS, READY FOR RACHMAN ON JULY 7! By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Tue, 19 Jun 2007 Florante Condes hits the mitts with his trainer while his manager Aljoe Jaro (right) looks on. "Just two pounds, and we're ready to go!" So disclosed Aljoe Jaro, the youthful manager of dynamite-fisted Florante Condes in a long-distance interview today from his base in Binangonan, Rizal. Jaro, who manages a number of fighters aside from Condes, has informed that his ward was just 107 lbs after doing his usual morning roadwork today, and should not find shedding the extra two pounds too difficult to do as he still has almost two weeks before flying to Jakarta, Indonesia. Team Condes is slated to fly to Jakarta on July 2, as the Filipino bomber attempts to snatch the IBF belt away from Rachman on July 7 at the Indoor Tennis Stadium in Jakarta. Condes is expected to reach 150 rounds of sparring this week, and said that he hasn't lost focus despite the fight getting postponed again. The IBF has allowed organizers to hold the fight on July 7, after original promoter Albert Papilaya failed to deposit the fighters' purses for what would have been a June 16 showdown. Condes is expected to do his final sparring on June 29, which will be a four-round session. If plans dont miscarry, Condes will have a total of 164 rounds under him for the Rachman fight. As of now, the promotional obligations have been taken over by Ndondo Sugiarto in partnership with Tourino Tidar, after original promoter Albert 'Mr Tom' Papilaya reportedly disappeared following a string of unfulfilled promises. The new promoters then petitioned the IBF to move the fight from its original schedule of June 16 to a new date on July 7. Team Condes will be made up of the fighter, Jaro, trainer George Sol and lawyer Joaquin Mendoza. "Nagkasundo na kami ni Florante na knockoutin na namin para matapos na ang gulo," (We have agreed with Florante to knock out Rachman so we can finally get over this), said Jaro. Other members of Team Condes who will come from Las Vegas include co-manager Dante Ortiz, former WBA junior welter king Morris East, promoter Bobby Bostick, lawyer Cesar Trevino, and some staff.
