IBF WARNS IT WILL STRIP RACHMAN OF TITLE By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Tue, 12 Jun 2007 IBF president Marian Muhammad has warned that unless the world minimum weight title fight between Muhammad Rachman and mandatory challenger Florante Condes takes place on or before July 10 the title will be “vacated and the two leading available contenders will be notified to begin negotiations for the vacant title.” The IBF president informed Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today that the situation with Rachman “is not so complicated” pointing that the purse offer was won by Seminole Warriors in April for the Rachman-Condes title fight and it was scheduled for a date in June (June 16). Ms. Muhammad said that “for whatever reason I’m hearing that the fight has to be postponed for a couple of weeks.” The IBF president that “as long as the bout takes place on or before July 10 which is ninety days from the purse offer which is in accordance with the rule governing purse bid procedure we have no problem with the promotion.” The co-manager of Condes, former Filipino boxer Aljoe Jaro has offered to stage the fight in Manila because of what he and co-manager Dante Ortiz referred to as the delaying tactics of the Indonesians who earlier informed the IBF that they wanted the fight postponed ton the last week of June or the first week of July “because of an internal problem.” Ortiz in an email to the Indonesians pointed out that “boxing is business and athletic discipline serious” even as he questioned the attitude of the Indonesians who apparently were unable to raise the money to stage the fight as scheduled on June 16. The hard-hitting southpaw Condes has been training diligently in the hope of winning the world title from the 35 year old Indonesian who has a record of 61—5-5 with 20 knockouts.
