IBF REQUESTED TO ALLOW CONDES TITLE FIGHT IN MANILA

PhilBoxing.com

Obviously disgusted over the delaying tactics and the confusion over the IBF minimum weight title fight between the Philippines Florante Condes and Indonesian champion Muhammad Rachman which the Indonesians want to postpone once again, Condes’ co-manager Aljoe Jaro and associates are asking the IBF to allow them to promote the fight in Manila.

Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today learned that promoter Aljoe Jaro has received offers of support in bringing the title fight to Manila after the Indonesians informed IBF president Marian Muhammad that “because of an internal problem” they wanted the fight which was scheduled for June 16 in Jakarta postponed either to the last week of June or the first week of July.

So far the Indonesians who claim to be involved in the promotion have been unable to come up with the money and deliver on their commitments. An indication of the problems financing the fight was the request that officials for the fight be changed to save on expenses.

IBF Championship Committee chairman Lindsey Tucker noted that if Warriors Boxing, winners of the purse bid “ask for a postponement within the ninety day time frame, the IBF will consider it.” Tucker also made it clear that the request for a date change must come from Warriors Boxing.

The co-manager of Condes along with Filipino Aljoe Jaro, American Dante Ortiz was visibly angry over the run-around being given them by the Indonesians. In an email to Fandy Ndondo, Ortiz noted that “boxing is business and athletic discipline serious” and that the Indonesian’s attitude and conduct were questionable.

Even without receiving his training expenses the hard-hitting southpaw Condes has been training hard in the hope of winning the world title against the 35 year old Indonesian who has a record of 61-5-5 with 20 KO’s but has never fought abroad.
